There are a surprisingly large number of very good building material products readily available in Australia. By far the greatest variety comes from Germany and other European countries, but here in Australia, we do have some innovative and forward thinking manufacturers and suppliers of good healthy and environmentally sound products.
Mainly because of lack of interest and sales, some very good products have been taken off the market, others have been improved and some have been downgraded.
Due to this constant change of availability, we have only a short list of tried and proven materials listed here.There is a more comprehensive list available for various building components that are currently considered the best available, this list is constantly changing; particularly as new products become known and is what you will recieve as part of a consultation for a new or renovation project.
My recommendation here is to decide on the type of materials you wish to use in your construction or remodeling, and then contact me for confirmation or alternative materials.
As mentioned under Building Material Consultations, all materials presented to me undergo an evaluation for their impact on the health of the occupants by being rated according to their effect on the building internal environment, as well as the effect that the materials production, availability and use has on the external environment as a whole.
